Simon has worked with numerous accreditation bodies including Accreditation Services International, Social Accountability Accreditation Services and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service covering schemes owned by the Forest Stewardship Council, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials and Social Accountability International.

This work has taken him around the world, having worked in around 30 countries, with more long-term experience in several including Guyana and Indonesia, in both commercial operations and donor development projects.

Simon has been instrumental in the development of The Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) certification system, providing assurance that woody biomass is sourced from legal and sustainable sources.  The certification system is core to SBP's vision of an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable woody biomass supply chain that contributes to a low carbon economy.

Simon managed and implemented the piloting of the RSPO scheme from self-certification, through approval and on to full accreditation.
